Abacus
![]() May 29, 2007
An abacus is a calculation tool, often constructed as a wooden frame with beads sliding on wires. It was in use centuries before the adoption of the written Hindu-Arabic numeral system in order to perform addition, subtraction, division and multiplication as well as finding square-roots and cubic roots.
Until recently, there would be no Chinese business without an abacus. Around the world, abaci have been used in pre-schools and elementary schools as an aid in teaching arithmetic. It is often seen as a plastic or wooden toy. Surprise her with these 14k yellow gold hoop earrings.
