Abacus
![]() May 05, 2006
An abacus is a calculation tool, often constructed as a wooden frame with beads sliding on wires. It was in use centuries before the adoption of the written Hindu-Arabic numeral system in order to perform addition, subtraction, division and multiplication as well as finding square-roots and cubic roots.
Until recently, there would be no Chinese business without an abacus. Around the world, abaci have been used in pre-schools and elementary schools as an aid in teaching arithmetic. It is often seen as a plastic or wooden toy. This classic 14k gold hoop earring is 3/5 of an inch in diameter and has a latch backing to make it easy to wear in a pierced ear.
Hoop earrings are the absolute fashion essentials. This one being small in size would go well with classic office wear. And Mother's Day being just around the corner, it would make a perfect gift for mom. These hoops are also available in white gold. See all Gold Earrings.
